Job
Description:
The
Sr. Mechanical Designer has the responsibility to create, implement and test
the design on Unit level, conform to the departmental and project procedures
and processes.
Typically
a Unit is developed by a team of 3-5 Mechanical Engineers, technically headed
by the (Sr.) Mechanical Designer.
The
Sr. Mechanical Designer ensures that his design is consistent with the higher
level architecture and requirements. Jobholder ensures that his design is
understood by the Mechanical -Engineers, and verifies the correct
implementation.
The
Sr. Mechanical Designer is responsible for planning and tracking of his Units
and ensures risks are mitigated and communicated to stakeholders.
Each
professional Sr. Mechanical Designer has built up a specialization in a certain
domain, which can be a particular technology or a product feature and assures
that his knowledge is up to date with the state of the art techniques.
Sr.
Mechanical Designer has been working as a Mechanical Designer for at least 2-3
years. In depth knowledge of the Mechanical domain established by an additional
training or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Responsibilities:
Responsible
for Requirements, Design, implementation, test and integration of his Unit in
accordance with the higher level Requirement and - Design specifications /
architectures.
Delegates,
coaches and verifies the implementation by Engineers.
Ensures
the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate modules in
modular, easy-to-maintain units that meets the product specification.
Understands
and communicates consequences of his/her design on the architecture.
Determines
the Unit interfaces (HW/SW), in close consultation with relevant disciplines.
Ensures
that there is proper documentation for his/her design.
Keeps
abreast of technical developments in own field through study of the literature,
and technical contacts, and propagates it.
Defines,
executes and takes the lead in concept and feasibility studies with a limited
scope to investigate the usability of new technologies.
Contributes
to technology roadmaps and other strategic related activities.
Takes
technological or process related improvements initiatives within the scope of
at least the mechanical development group.
Contributes
to the Work Breakdown Structure/ the planning process of his/her area.
Draws
up personal schedule and reports on progress.
Inspires
his team members to get the job done.
Performs
work in line with the processes that have been agreed in the department.
